President Lili Rollins welcomed attendees to
the AGM and the New Members Reception. She thanked members, board
members, and others for their generous contributions which enable a
small organization to accomplish a tremendous amount.
Lili pointed to the accomplishments this
year in maintaining the level of membership, diversifying our
membership, and increasing involvement while streamlining processes and
staying on track. Many of the Strategic Plan’s goals have been achieved.
An Advisory Council was instituted to help the Board continue to learn
and to ask the right questions.

President Lili Rollins thanked each of the
departing 2009 Board members as they made their presentations to the
assembly: Peggy Fallon, Joyce Jue, Fred Martin, Deborah Olson, and
Cynthia Traina, for their dedicated service to the Food Society, and
presented them with plaques commemorating their tenure on the Board.
Lili thanked the membership for its support and turned the gavel over to
Cathy Schreiber.

The new 2010 Board:
President, Cathy Schreiber
Immediate Past President, Lili Rollins
President-Elect, Dede Sampson
Recording Secretary, Ann Wheeler Treasurer, Laurie Zerga
Parliamentarian, (open position)
Special Events Chair, Adam Mali
Community Services Chair, Nancy Kux
Directory Chair, Dorothy Nicholson
Marketing Chair, Gayle Massey
Members Only Programs Chair, Rosemary Mark
Membership Chair, Christina Mueller Welter
Events Chair, Nona Lim
Sponsorship Chair, John Wiest
Communications Chair, Linda Yoshino

Cathy Schreiber recognized that the people
and companies that comprise our membership are evidence of a vibrant,
engaged, forward-looking association. 2009 was quite a year- the
difficult economy affected many of us in one way or another, and many
are looking forward to a new year. Our event programming remained
stellar throughout 2009, and the 2010 calendar is already brimming with
more exciting and compelling events.

As professionals with careers in the
creative, challenging food industry, how do we best take advantage of
our Food Society membership? We can show up and participate at SFPFS
events where we learn, connect, and get inspired and recharge ourselves.
We can network with other members. We can be available as resources to
benefit our fellow members. We can be a community that stays involved
and engaged, giving back to all, and always growing and expanding.
“Excelsior!” is the motto, and it holds the promise of forward motion
and great things to come- get ready to engage in 2010!

Weezie Mott, winner of the 2008 SFPFS Lifetime
Achievement Award, was presented with a plaque in her honor. Lili then
presented the 2009 SFPFS Lifetime Achievement Award, a perpetual award,
to Mary Risley. Jim Dodge accepted the award for Mary Risley, who was
not present.

Cathy thanked the CCA and its staff,
Constellation Wines, Fred Martin, and Deborah Olson for all their
contributions to the meeting and the reception.
