With a culinary renaissance taking place in China, why is great Chinese food so hard to find in the U.S.? Are authentic ingredients too difficult to source? Do visa problems bar great Chinese chefs from coming here? Is there a fundamental disconnect between what great Chinese chefs can cook and what Americans raised on chop suey expect? Or, does great Chinese food exist just under our noses waiting to be discovered and celebrated?

Join our panel as it examines the changing face of Chinese cuisine in China, as well as in key places in the US. Albert Cheng, former three-term president of the Chinese Culture Center; Nicole Mones, author of the award-winning novels Lost in Translation, A Cup of Light, and The Last Chinese Chef, Alex Ong, Betelnut partner and executive chef, and Martin Yan, T.V. host and master chef with 26 cookbooks to his name, will join moderator Olivia Wu, currently chef at Google and a former award-winning writer for the San Francisco Chronicle.

This program includes a 30-minute welcome reception and a 90-minute panel presentation. Following the panel, Nicole Mones and Martin Yan will sign copies of their books.
