Why did you join the SFPFS?
I joined the SFPFS because of its mission, vision, purpose and history. The deeply respected Antonia Allegra speaks very highly of the organization and believes that this is an organization that I should be a part of. I am excited to learn and to participate.
How is Food Connected to Your Career?
I am the Founder of The Oakland Wine Festival which is a high profile, educational, international wine and food event featuring celebrated winemakers from Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and around the world. The festival is a collaboration between me and close friends in the Napa Valley and beyond. I am a wine educator, wine and food writer, publisher and editor focused primarily on white papers, lifestyle articles and books and have just released the Judgement of Oakland TM, a comprehensive look at double blind tasting. The 16-page article is available by visiting www.Oaklandwinefestival.com.
I was named Best Westerner by Sunset Magazine for innovative and creative work in the wine world and invited as an attendee at the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers at Meadowood Napa Valley for two years.
The Oakland Wine Festival is the result of the desire to further acknowledge an overlooked – yet key – community of wine lovers who appreciate having world-class vintners and chefs within arm’s reach. Over 100 wineries accepted the invitation of the festival’s Honorary Steering Committee, composed of chefs and wine industry luminaries, to participate or return to this annual event. We open the 2017 year with our Monthly Oakland Wine Festival Kick-Off Wine Tasting and Soiree featuring Silverado Vineyards. This intimate seated event will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2017 and will be held at the Claremont Club & Spa in Oakland, California.
